A True Philippine Board-Certified Dermatologist is a member of the One and Only PMA-Accredited Dermatology Society in the Philippines – Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS). That means he/she underwent 3 years of Dermatology Residency training in one of the PDS-accredited training institutions, after going through Medical studies and passing the Physician Licensure Examinations. After the 3 years of Dermatology Residency training, the Dermatology Resident graduate will have to undergo the PDS Written and Oral Board Examinations to be come a Diplomate. Then after 3 years, the PDS Diplomate will have to undergo a PDS screening process to become a Fellow. Thus, with all the rigorous steps and training that a PDS Board-Certified Dermatologist had to go through, you are assured that he/she will be able to diagnose and treat any skin problem/concern competently and accurately.
Want to check if your dermatologist is a PDS Board-Certified Dermatologist? You can go to the PDS website and search for your dermatologist’s name. Please go to http://pds.org.ph/pds-certified-dermatologist/ . You can also see the PDS Seal of Excellence displayed in your Dermatologist’s clinic.
